دستگاه محرک الکتریکی اعصاب محیطی با اعمال تحریک به عصب جهت ارزیابی میزان انسداد عصبی عضلانی در حین عمل جراحی و ریکاوری بکار می رود. این وسیله می تواند با برق شهر یا باطری کار کند و دارای چهار نوع تحریک توئیچ، قطار چهارتایی، تتانیک و دابل برست است. در این دستگاه نوعاً از الکترودهای الکتروکاردیوگراف معمول و یا الکترودهای پوستی دوقطبی استفاده می شود.

Block Monitoring Peripheral Nerve Stimulator  Peripheral-nerve electrical stimulators that apply the stimuli to a nerve designated to assess the adequacy of neuromuscular block (e.g., ulnar nerve, facial nerve, lower-extremity nerve) during surgery and its reversal during the recovery period.

These stimulators are battery or line powered and usually use four types of stimulation:  twitch, train-of-four, tetanic, and double-burst.  Block-monitoring stimulators typically use conventional electrocardiographic electrodes and/or bipolar surface electrodes (ball electrodes).
